Plateau State Concludes Ministerial Briefings with Strong Accountability Report and Sectoral Achievements

In a bold step to reinforce transparency and accountability, the Plateau State Government recently concluded its ministerial press briefings at the J.D. Gomwalk Secretariat in Jos. The event highlighted the achievements and developmental strides made by various ministries under Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration.

 Led by Hon. Mrs. Dongkum Grace Shwarta, the Ministry of Finance cleared ₦14 billion in salary arrears, pensions, and deductions. A ₦500 million payroll verification savings boosted financial discipline. To support education, ₦2 billion was released for course accreditation across tertiary institutions. Civil servants benefited from the new minimum wage and a 75% hazard allowance for health workers. Palliatives worth ₦1.6 billion were disbursed to cushion fuel subsidy removal effects.

  Dr. Mrs. Kachallom Pyam Gang spearheaded the full accreditation of all tertiary institutions, backed by ₦1.5 billion in investments. Infrastructure projects, including a 150-capacity conference center and a new medical center, were initiated.

  Hon. Bugama Samson Ishaku reported the cultivation of 6,000 hectares in 2023, with a target of 50,000 in 2024. Mechanized farming, improved crop varieties, and the establishment of Plakon, a commodity company, aimed at reducing middlemen exploitation were among key initiatives.

   Dr. Sunday Akpa’s ministry launched Nigeria’s first modern livestock village in Plateau. Over 4.5 million animals were vaccinated, and a new veterinary clinic was established to improve animal healthcare.

   Under Hon. Adams Bulus Lekshak, the ministry introduced the state’s first Medium-Term Expenditure Framework. It managed over 43 donor-backed projects, published the 2025 budget online, and supported nutrition and school feeding programs.

    Hon. Bashir Datti Lawandi’s ministry passed the Water Users Association Bill and joined the national SPIN program. It improved water production, recruited 140 staff, spent ₦1 billion on treatment chemicals, and increased revenue collection. Solar mini-grids have positively impacted 89,000 rural dwellers.

These achievements reflect Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to purposeful governance, with the press briefings setting a new benchmark for openness, accountability, and results-driven leadership. Plateau State is firmly on a path to inclusive growth and improved livelihoods.
